LEC JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: DRIVER/MAINTAINER
Department: Mechanical Transport
Grade: BATUK Band 9 (Starting Salary Kes 69,714/-)
Full/Part Time: Indefinite
Location: Mechanical Transport Department.
Reporting To: Mechanical Transport Officer/Master Driver.
Generic Description of Duties:
To drive and maintain a multitude of various vehicle types, conducted various driving tasks as directed by Mechanical Transport Foreman or relevant Line Manager.
Main Duties:
- You will be expected to have and maintain a clean and valid driving licence.
- You will be expected to carry out a first parade on a vehicle
- You will be expected to ensure the safe movement of passengers via means of coach, Troop Carrying Vehicles or any other Personnel Carrying Vehicles, to and from JKIA, Kifaru, NYATI or any other destination specified by MT staff.
- You will be expected to ensure the safe movement of freight/stores/weapons/ammunition or fuel via means of SV cargo or ISO container capable vehicle.
- You will be expected to carry out basic maintenance on the vehicles, i.e., Changing of canopy, light clusters, bulks, reflectors, mirrors etc.
- You will be expected to fully comply with all aspects of BATUK’s Mechanical Transport Standing Orders policy.
- Timely reporting of all incidents and vehicle faults to the relevant personnel.
- You will be expected to always ensure compliance with all Traffic Laws and Regulations.
Secondary Duties:
- You will be expected to conduct servicing of vehicles.
- You will be expected to undertake further trade training, ADR (Accord Dangereux Routier) Licence i.e. Dangerous goods movement licence.
- You will be expected to undertake specialist vehicle training, Crane, Forklift training if there is a requirement.
- You will be expected to carry out any other duties commensurate with the trade/grade as directed by the Line Manager.

Qualifications and Experience:
Good communication skills to include a good understanding of English language oral and written.
Must be a Team Player
Must be well organised and punctual.
No Medical Impairments.
Must hold a valid Driving Licence for categories B, C1, C, D, D1, D2, D3
Desirable:
Driving licence holding categories CE and E
Experience in driving MOD vehicles.
Training requirements:
- You will be expected to undergo further trade training to gain further trade qualifications, vehicle licences category as required to suite BATUK requirements.
