Job Title: General Duties

Department: Quartmaster

Grade: BATUK Band 12 (Kes 52,009/-)

Full/Part Time: Indefinite 

Location: BATUK Main

Reporting to: QM(M)

Generic description of duties

To provide support and labour to the QM Dept in BATUK Main by conducting general duty tasks such as, cleaning toilets, showers, offices and conducting swing fog pest control, Fire Warden equipment care and driving duties daily Mon – Sun, working 40hrs a week 5 days a week.

Main Duties: Your duties involve

  1. You are to conduct area cleaning and rubbish collection.
  2. You are to conduct swing fog pest control within Nyati, accommodation estates and training areas.
  3. You are to assist in the loading of the camp and kitchen waste to the bin truck at the BATUK main Kitchen rubbish and swill area.
  4. You are to clean buildings that the Camp Manager/Supervisor has allocated you to clean, such as the BATUK main kitchen areas, common areas, ablution blocks, messes, LEC Welfare building. 
  5. You are to take over the washdown facility in the absence of wash down attendant.
  6. You are to assist in setting up facilities for during BATUK functions and to manage waste generated during the function and area cleaning after the function.
  7. You are required to assist in bottled water distribution in Nyati, and Service Single Service Accommodation facilities.
  8. You are responsible for receiving of bottled water for Nyati Barracks from the supplier
  9. You are responsible to account and to record the water bottles received before distribution.
  10. You are responsible of escorting and supervising the contractor when carrying out water dispensers and sanitary bin service.
  11. Be prepared to stand in and assist in other sections like the waste management, washdown point or any other section in the QM Department that would require labour or cover for Locally Engaged Civilians on leave
  12. You are responsible to offer escort and supervision of Battle Group and BATUK casual workers.
  13. You may undertake other general duty work, commensurate with grade, as directed by your Chain of Command.

Secondary duties

  1. Be prepared to drive up to 15 tonne Man Sv if required.
  2. Assist in fire equipment maintenance and equipment care.
  3. Offer Escort to casual workers, visitors and contractors for QMs dept.
  4. Carry out the first and the last parade for vehicles assigned to this section

Competences/qualifications/experience:

Essential:

  2. Qualifications and Experience:
      1. Hold a valid Kenya driving licence with Class C.
      2. Good communication skills to include a good understanding of English language oral and written.
      3. Basic IT knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.
      4. Must be able to work unsupervised and achieve high results within tight timelines.
  3. Desirable:
      1.  Well organised
      2. Able to work on own initiative

Training Requirements:

  1. FMT 600 if individual has a driving licence. 
  2. Swing fog training.
  3. PPE training.
  4. COSHH awareness.
